Dibek Coffee Recipe

Dibek coffee stands out as a unique and traditional taste in the world of coffee. This special type of coffee, which has survived from the Ottoman era to the present day, is prepared by pounding carefully selected coffee beans in a mortar. It has a milder taste and a lighter color compared to traditional Turkish coffee.

Dibek coffee is actually not a  method of brewing coffee, but a method of grinding coffee. Coffee beans are ground by pounding in a mortar, and during this process, different flavors are added to the coffee. These flavors can include various ingredients such as carob, cocoa, hyssop, salep, mastic, coffee cream plants, and more. The specific ingredients used can vary depending on the region.

Keep in mind that in the past, Dibek coffee was simply ground from coffee beans and prepared similar to Turkish coffee. Over time, it evolved as different flavors were incorporated. Each cup of dibek coffee offers a taste beyond the classic Turkish coffee and leaves an unforgettable impression on the palate.

Dibek coffee offers a delightful coffee experience similar to traditional Turkish coffee. Here’s a step-by-step guide for making this delicious coffee:

Ingredients:

  • Dibek coffee
  • Water
  • Cezve (small coffee pot)

Preparation:

1. Put 1 teaspoon of Dibek coffee in the cezve for each cup of coffee you want to prepare.
2. If you prefer your coffee sweet, you can add 1 teaspoon of sugar.
3. Add 1cup of Turkish coffee water for each cup of coffee into the cezve, and stir. This mixture will bring out the unique flavors of the coffee.
4. Place the cezve on the stove and start heating it over medium heat without stirring. Pay close attention when the coffee starts to foam. Remove it from the heat immediately to prevent overflowing.
5. Distribute the frothy part into the cups first. Then, you can return the cezve to the heat to allow it to rise slightly. Pour the remaining coffee from the cezve into the cups. That’s it! You now have a delicious cup of dibek coffee.
